MEET SCARLETT – THE LITTLE “QUEEN” WHO TURNS INTO A RABBIT WHEN SHE PLAYS 👑🐰

LOCATION: CENTURION, GAUTENG

Meet Scarlett, a beautiful 5-year-old female Pekingese with a black nose, a gentle nature and a personality her family absolutely adores.

Her mom calls her “Queen” because of the regal way she sits quietly in the sunshine.

But give Scarlett one of her toys and Queen Scarlett suddenly earns her other nickname — “Rabbit!” 🐰

She loves running around with her toy in her mouth, looking like a little bunny bouncing through the house.

Her owners are retired and will be travelling extensively during the year, so they have made the difficult decision to find Scarlett a loving new home.

Scarlett can be adopted separately from her brother Noellie. They are not dependent on each other.

WHY HER MOM CALLS HER “QUEEN”

Scarlett is a more reserved little lady.

She doesn’t immediately run up to everyone she meets. She likes to take her time, observe and decide when she is comfortable.

Give her gentle attention and allow her to approach at her own pace, and she begins to warm up.

She enjoys relaxing on the settee and absolutely loves sitting quietly in the sunshine.

The way she sits there, calmly surveying her surroundings, is exactly why her mom calls her “My Queen.”

🐰 AND THEN THE QUEEN BECOMES “RABBIT”!

Scarlett has another side!

When she gets hold of one of her favourite toys, this dignified little Queen can suddenly start racing around with it in her mouth.

Her mom says she runs like a rabbit — and the nickname stuck! 🐰

She also loves playing hide-and-seek with her brother Noellie. Scarlett runs and hides, and Noellie goes looking for her.

Of course, when Scarlett would rather sit peacefully in the sunshine, Noellie sometimes decides his sister has been peaceful for long enough and goes over to disturb the Queen!

SCARLETT’S IDEAL HOME

Scarlett would suit someone who appreciates a dog with a gentler, more reserved personality.

She needs people who will give her a little time to get to know them rather than expecting immediate affection.

According to her owner, Scarlett may initially bark at other dogs but can settle and come around.

She has not lived with cats, so her compatibility with cats is unknown.

A calm, loving home where she is given time to settle — and preferably has a sunny little spot of her own — would make this Queen very happy.

❤️ WHY DOES SCARLETT NEED A NEW HOME?

Scarlett joined her family approximately a year after Noellie. They share the same mother and came from the same breeder.

She has grown up surrounded by love and is a treasured member of her family.

Her owners are now retired and expect to travel extensively throughout the year. They have therefore made the difficult decision to find Scarlett a suitable new home.

Scarlett is not being rehomed because she is unwanted or unloved.

Her family simply wants their little Queen to have the stable, loving home she deserves.

ABOUT THE PEKINGESE

Pekingese are companion dogs known for having plenty of personality packed into a small body.

Some are immediately outgoing, while others prefer to take their time getting to know new people.

Scarlett is very much an individual — a quiet little Queen when she’s relaxing in the sunshine and an entertaining little Rabbit when playtime begins.

As with every rescue dog, adopters should consider Scarlett’s individual temperament and needs rather than relying on breed characteristics alone.
