Meet Izzy – A Loving Little Companion Who Enjoys Being Close to Her People ❤️

Izzy is a sweet and affectionate 5-year-old female long-legged Jack Russell cross from Parklands, Western Cape, looking for a loving new home.

Weighing approximately 10–15 kg, this friendly little girl enjoys human companionship and is particularly fond of being around children.

Because her owner works from home, Izzy is accustomed to having someone nearby throughout the day. A home where someone works from home, is retired, or can offer plenty of companionship would be especially suitable for her.

❤️ A LITTLE MORE ABOUT IZZY

Izzy is happiest when she can be close to the people she loves.

Having spent much of her life with an owner who works from home, she enjoys the comfort of familiar company and being part of everyday family life.

She loves the simple pleasures: familiar food, cosy blankets, tasty treats and her treasured teddy bear.

Izzy previously shared her home with an older dog for three years. Sadly, her canine companion passed away approximately two years ago, and she has not had regular contact with other dogs since then.

This doesn’t necessarily mean she cannot live with another dog. However, introductions would need to be handled carefully to establish whether they are compatible.

A Little Watchdog Too!

Like many Jack Russell types, Izzy is alert to what happens around her.

Her owner reports that she barks when strangers approach the gate and when bicycles pass by.

Her future family should be comfortable with this behaviour and willing to help her settle into a new environment with patience and positive reinforcement.

🏡 IZZY’S IDEAL HOME

Izzy would love a home where she can enjoy the companionship and security she has grown accustomed to.

Her ideal family would offer:

  • Plenty of human company: Someone who works from home, is retired, or is home regularly would be a wonderful match.
  • Indoor family living: Izzy is used to sleeping inside and should continue to enjoy the comfort of an indoor home.
  • A family who loves affectionate dogs: She enjoys being around people and children.
  • A secure property: Sensible fencing and a safe environment where she can relax.
  • Patient introductions to other pets: Her current compatibility with dogs and cats has not been established.
  • Understanding of her barking: Her new family should be willing to work gently with her alert behaviour around the gate and passing bicycles.

IMPORTANT: Izzy is used to sleeping indoors. Although she has previously coped well with kennel accommodation, an indoor sleeping arrangement is strongly preferred to help her feel settled and secure.

Her familiar blankets and beloved teddy bear may also help make the transition a little easier.

❤️ WHY DOES IZZY NEED A NEW HOME?

Sometimes circumstances change in ways families cannot predict.

Izzy’s owner needs to move from her current home into accommodation where she unfortunately cannot take Izzy along.

This has led to the difficult decision to look for a new family who can offer Izzy the love, companionship and stability she deserves.

Izzy is not being rehomed because of a problem with her temperament.

She remains safely with her owner while Little Doggy Rescue helps find a suitable new home.

ABOUT THE JACK RUSSELL CROSS

Jack Russell Terriers are generally known for their intelligence, alertness and lively personalities.

They often enjoy being involved in family activities and benefit from appropriate exercise, enrichment and consistent, positive training.

As Izzy is a crossbreed, her individual personality and needs are far more important than general breed characteristics.

What we already know is that Izzy is an affectionate little girl who enjoys human company and the familiar comforts of home.
