Meet Oliver (Ollie) – A Lovable French Bulldog Looking for His Forever Home ❤️

Oliver (Ollie) is a French Bulldog for adoption near Pretoria, Gauteng, at approximately 3–4 years old. He is affectionate and needs an experienced, cat-free home without a pool.

This charming little fellow has a playful, affectionate personality and enjoys the comforts of home. He loves his soft toys, good food and, most importantly, having a cosy place to sleep – preferably snuggled up on the bed!

Oliver has already experienced several changes of home during his young life. He now deserves the chance to settle down with a family who understands French Bulldogs and can offer him the security, companionship and consistency he needs.

Oliver needs a home without cats, farm animals, small children or swimming pools. A home where he can enjoy indoor family life and have his own peaceful space to rest would suit him best.

❤️ A LITTLE MORE ABOUT OLIVER

Oliver has a very lovable side, and his current carer describes him as a friendly boy who enjoys attention, playing with his soft toys and being part of the household.

He is accustomed to living indoors and sleeping on the bed, and his future family should be happy to continue giving him this comfort.

Oliver also has his little routines!

After enjoying a good meal, he likes to settle down for a proper sleep. And once Ollie is sleeping, he would prefer not to be disturbed! His current carer says he can become a little grumpy if his rest is interrupted.

His future family will need to respect his personal space and allow him to rest peacefully.

He is fully house-trained, which is a lovely advantage for his new home.

🐶 HOW DOES OLIVER GET ALONG WITH OTHER DOGS?

Oliver currently lives with two male Pugs and generally gets along well with them.

However, when he first arrived, he did challenge the older male Pug. They have since settled into living together.

His current carer feels that Oliver would be particularly well suited to a home with a friendly female dog of a similar size.

Our preference would be a home where Oliver is either the only dog or has a compatible, calm female companion.

Any introduction to another dog should be carefully managed to ensure that both dogs are comfortable.

Oliver is not suitable for a home with cats or farm animals, as he has previously chased farm animals and has not been compatible with cats.

🏡 OLIVER’S IDEAL FOREVER HOME

We want Oliver’s next home to be his last. After several moves, finding the right match is especially important.

His ideal family would offer:

  • French Bulldog experience: Someone familiar with the breed’s particular care requirements.
  • Indoor living: Oliver must be part of the family and allowed to sleep comfortably indoors, preferably on the bed as he is accustomed to.
  • No cats or farm animals: This is an important requirement.
  • No small children: His compatibility with young children has not been established, and he needs uninterrupted resting time.
  • Suitable canine companionship: Ideally an only-dog home or a carefully matched female dog.
  • No swimming pool: His future property must not have a swimming pool.
  • A secure environment: A safely enclosed garden and responsible supervision.
  • Respect for his routines: Oliver needs a family who understands that he likes peace and quiet when sleeping.
  • A suitable diet: His future family must be willing to manage his nutritional needs carefully.

Most of all, Oliver needs patient, committed people who will give him time to settle in and feel truly at home.

OLIVER’S FOOD AND HEALTH

Oliver’s current carer takes considerable care with his meals.

He is accustomed to a good-quality pellet food, such as Hill’s Metabolic Mini, together with home-prepared meat. He does not particularly enjoy tinned dog food.

His carer has mentioned a possible chicken sensitivity, although this has not been confirmed by a veterinarian. Chicken liver has sometimes been included in his meals, and his carer has observed occasional scratching.

When Oliver arrived in his current home, he was suffering from a severe ear infection. His carer arranged veterinary treatment and reports that his ears are now doing well.

His vaccinations have also been brought up to date, and his veterinary booklet is available.

As with any French Bulldog, his future owners should understand the breed’s special needs, particularly regarding heat, breathing, exercise and general health.

❤️ WHY DOES OLIVER NEED A NEW HOME?

Oliver’s journey has involved more changes than we would wish for any dog.

After his original owner passed away, Oliver was kindly taken in by others, but difficulties with farm animals in Vanderbijlpark and later with a cat in another home led to further moves before his current carer welcomed him in and gave him the love and veterinary care he needed.

She has done her best to help Oliver and now hopes to find him a permanent home where his particular needs can be met.

Oliver is not looking for another temporary stop along the way.

He needs a carefully chosen, committed family who can offer him a true forever home.

🐶 ABOUT FRENCH BULLDOGS

French Bulldogs are known for their affectionate companionship, expressive personalities and love of being close to their people.

However, they are also a breed with particular care requirements.

Because of their short-nosed (brachycephalic) anatomy, French Bulldogs can be sensitive to heat and may experience breathing difficulties. Exercise should be appropriate for the individual dog, particularly during hot weather.

They are also not naturally suited to swimming, which is why swimming pools present a significant safety concern.

Prospective adopters should be prepared for the breed’s potential veterinary and dietary needs and understand the importance of maintaining a healthy weight.

Oliver is an individual, and his specific personality, routines and requirements should always guide his future care.

❤️ ADOPT • SHARE • CHANGE A LIFE

Oliver has had enough changes in his young life. What he needs now is a family who will love him, understand his little quirks and give him the stability he deserves.

Can’t adopt Oliver yourself? Please share his story.

Somewhere out there could be the very family this handsome Frenchie boy has been waiting for. ❤️
