Rehome a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in South Africa

If your circumstances have changed and you need help finding a new home for your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Little Doggy Rescue offers a home-to-home rehoming route for small dogs. Start by telling us about your dog and your situation. An enquiry does not guarantee acceptance, a placement or a particular timeframe.

Ask about rehoming your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel on WhatsApp or read our rehoming process and owner enquiry form.

Preserve your Cavalier’s care and companionship needs

When considering a new home for a Cavalier, include the practical routine as well as their personality. Changes in companionship, owner health, housing or the ability to manage ongoing care should be discussed openly.

  • Veterinary records: Share any diagnosed heart or other condition, medication, specialist notes and monitoring requirements already advised for your dog.
  • Coat and ears: Explain the grooming routine, any diagnosed ear or skin concerns, and current treatment or care instructions.
  • Time with people: Describe the normal household routine, time alone and any distress you have actually observed.
  • Age and mobility: Include current activity, assistance needed and practical requirements. Describe compatibility with children and other animals from experience.

How home-to-home rehoming works

Your dog normally stays with you while applicants are reviewed. Little Doggy Rescue does not provide kennel or foster intake as part of the standard process. Please explain any deadline or difficulty keeping your dog at home when you first contact us.

  1. Share your town and province, contact details, your dog’s age and weight, and why you are considering rehoming.
  2. Prepare an honest account of health, behaviour, daily routine and compatibility, together with clear current photographs.
  3. Discuss the current process and requirements with the rescue. Tell us about any urgent constraints; do not assume an immediate handover is possible.
  4. Follow the agreed matching and introduction steps. A potential home needs to suit the individual dog, not only a preferred breed.

See our owner’s rehoming guide and dog photograph guide for preparation. If relocation is the reason, our emigration guide explains the importance of planning ahead.

Questions about rehoming a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

My Cavalier has a heart condition. What should I disclose?

Share the diagnosis, available records, medication and existing monitoring plan. A potential family needs to understand ongoing responsibilities. A rehoming enquiry is not a medical assessment, and assistance cannot be guaranteed.

Can I enquire about an older Cavalier?

Yes. Include age, routine, mobility, medication and care needs. Read our senior-dog guide. An enquiry does not promise a placement or timetable.

What kind of household should we ask for?

Explain the level of company, activity and support your dog is used to, together with any known constraints. The match needs individual review rather than assuming that every Cavalier suits every family.

Start with your location and your dog’s story
