PERSONALITY & TEMPERAMENT
True to his name and breed, Charles Xavier is an exceptionally intelligent and intuitive young dog. He is highly affectionate and considers himself a “shadow”—he loves to follow his owner from room to room, wanting to be involved in every moment of the day.
Charlie is a master of focus and learning. He is highly food-motivated, which has made his training a breeze; he already learns new tricks remarkably fast and boasts perfect recall when off-leash.
ENERGY & PLAY
Charlie is currently in his high-energy puppy phase. His absolute favorite game is fetch, which he could play for hours. He requires a home that can provide both the physical exercise and the mental stimulation a Poodle needs to stay happy and balanced.
SOCIAL LIFE & COMPATIBILITY
DOGS:
Excellent with dogs of a similar size, especially those who enjoy a game of chase and aren’t overly dominant.
CATS:
Very respectful. He shows gentle curiosity and does not bark at or chase feline friends.
CHILDREN:
While he hasn’t lived with children full-time, he is calm and relaxed around them during park visits and outings.
HOME MANNERS:
Charlie is excellently house-trained with zero accidents. He is not an escape artist, though he is a “talker” and enjoys barking to communicate.
GROOMING & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
As a Poodle, Charlie has specific grooming needs. His new family must be committed to regular professional grooming to keep his coat healthy.
Additionally, because he is so devoted to his people, he can be prone to separation anxiety. He has been trained to be left alone for short periods, but his IDEAL HOME would be one where someone works from home or is around most of the day to provide the companionship he craves.
A MESSAGE FROM THE RESCUE
Charlie is being rehomed through our HOME-TO-HOME service due to a change in personal circumstances. He is currently with his owner in Cape Town and will transition directly to his new forever home, avoiding the stress of a shelter environment.
CHARLES XAVIER WILL GO TO HIS NEW HOME WITH HIS BEDS, BOWLS, AND FAVORITE TOYS TO HELP HIM SETTLE IN.
